My Photos
This sections captures my photographic work.
Just as my writing reflects my frustration with the current state of the US and world, my photography is based on my wonder at all the beautiful and interesting things that permeate the world. My goal with my photography is to capture and share these things with others whom may not have a chance to see them otherwise.
I am self taught (with the exception of a couple of recent courses courtesy of one of my sons). I have had the good fortune to grow in my hobby as the hobby itself has grown. Since my late teens, I have chased the rapid developments in photography. My technical work with several employers allowed me the opportunity to be an early implementer of technologies like stereographic photography, HDR (High Dynamic Range) and computer graphics, but the advent of digital cameras changed the world of photography for me forever. Much of the automation that accompanied digital advancements allowed the photographer to concentrate more on the image rather than technical setting and keeping a stack of film handy. Now almost every person has access to a good quality camera embedded right in their telephones. How this will impact the professional and formal hobbyist is yet to be seen, but the good news is a society is now able to document all the aspects of day to day life in rich detail.
There are three sub pages under this heading. The first is a sampling of my photos in a number of categories that reflect my interests and explorations. The second section covers many of the techniques and tools I use in my photography. This should be of interest to other photographers who want to expand their abilities. The third section shows some of my favorite photos created by other photographers.
While I hope people will learn and think because of my writings, my wish for my photos is that you will enjoy them and refer them to others.
You can also contact me with any comments you may wish to make.
